Safety & Clinical Standards
How we keep you safe
EMA Aesthetics is a nurse-led clinic, held to healthcare standards — not beauty-salon ones. This page explains, plainly, who treats you, how prescription medicines are handled, and the standards behind every appointment. If anything here matters to you, please ask at your consultation.
Who carries out your treatment
Every treatment at EMA is carried out by Emilee Challinor, an NMC-registered nurse — not a beautician or an unregulated injector. Emilee has around ten years' nursing experience, including NHS respiratory care through the pandemic and specialist hospice care. She holds an MSc in Nursing Science, is trained to Level 7 — the advanced standard in medical aesthetics — and keeps her skills current with ongoing professional development as part of NMC revalidation. You can read her full story on the About page.
Being NMC-registered means Emilee is accountable to the Nursing and Midwifery Council's professional code — the same body that regulates nurses across the NHS. You can check any nurse's registration yourself on the NMC register.
Prescription medicines & prescribing
Some treatments — including anti-wrinkle injections — involve a prescription-only medicine. At EMA, these are prescribed by a qualified independent prescriber Emilee works alongside; your treatment is then assessed and administered by Emilee. Emilee is completing her own prescriber qualification. We'll always be clear with you about how your treatment is prescribed and who is responsible for your care.
Insurance
EMA Aesthetics holds full medical malpractice, professional indemnity and public liability insurance for aesthetic practice.
Consultation, suitability & consent
We consult before we treat — always. That means taking a relevant medical history, talking through what you want to achieve, and giving you honest advice about whether a treatment is right for you. Sometimes that means recommending a different treatment, a smaller amount, or waiting — and sometimes it means saying no. We treat adults (18+) only. Your consultation is free, and there's never any pressure to decide on the day.
The products we use
We use quality products — including hyaluronic-acid dermal fillers — sourced through regulated UK suppliers. We record batch numbers and expiry dates for the products used in your treatment, and store temperature-sensitive products appropriately. If you'd like to know exactly what's being used, just ask — we're happy to tell you.
Hygiene & a clean clinical environment
Treatments are carried out in a clean, private clinical setting using single-use needles, in line with the standards you'd expect from a healthcare professional.
Emergency preparedness
As a registered nurse, Emilee is trained in life support and the management of medical emergencies, including anaphylaxis, with an emergency kit held on site.
Aftercare & if something isn't right
You'll be given clear aftercare guidance, and you can get back in touch with us if you have any questions or concerns after your appointment. Mild, short-lived effects like small bumps, tenderness or bruising are normal with injectable treatments; we'll tell you what to expect and what would warrant getting in touch.
For hyaluronic-acid dermal fillers, we keep hyaluronidase in stock — the enzyme used to dissolve filler — and follow a clear complication protocol, so that if anything is ever wrong it can be addressed promptly. We take any concern seriously and would always rather you contacted us than worried.
Pregnancy & breastfeeding
We don't carry out injectable treatments — anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers or polynucleotides — during pregnancy or breastfeeding. These are elective, and there isn't the safety data to support them at this time, so the responsible thing is to wait. It's never a no forever — just not yet. Skin treatments are assessed individually, and we're always happy to talk through your options for when the time is right.
Records, photographs & complaints
We keep confidential medical records for every patient. Any photographs are only ever taken with your consent. And if you're ever unhappy, we have a clear complaints process — please tell us, and we'll put it right wherever we can.
Your privacy
Any medical or personal information you share is kept confidential and handled in line with our privacy policy.
